Department of Health & Senior Services Update
Amendment 2 became law by a two-thirds majority of Missouri voters on November 6, 2018.
Article XVI amended the Missouri’s constitution on December 6, 2018 and allows possession, cultivation, retail sales, manufacturing, testing and transport of legal medical marijuana.
The Missouri Cannabis Industry Association supports a successful implementation of XVI by supporting, educating and representing our members. A timeline of implementation deadlines from the Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) displays below. MCIA will provide updates with the latest information released by the DHSS.
An information and FAQs page has been published on the DHSS website showing benchmarks and addressing questions about implementation of XVI. The timeline begins on Dec. 6, 2018. Important dates to remember are as follows:
The Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) Section for Medical Marijuana Regulation will begin issuing medical marijuana facility licenses before the end of the year. In order to give all potential applicants sufficient notice of when to expect notification of application determinations, DHSS is announcing tentative dates of license issuance for all facility types.
Medical marijuana facility license issuance is expected to occur on the following schedule:
- Testing facilities: approximately December 19, 2019 (Licenses have been released)
- Transportation facilities: approximately December 23, 2019
- Cultivation facilities: approximately December 26, 2019
- Infused Products Manufacturing facilities: approximately January 10, 2020
- Dispensary facilities: approximately January 24, 2020
- Seed to Sale: January 31, 2020
